We thought long and hard about which sire we were going to use on Seksy Chick since we really felt that she could produce something very nice for us.  In the end we realised that the answer was staring us in the face in our own kennel since Ch Maromad Kiss the Girls at Winuwuk was a great match.

When the litter arrived we were very excited because, right from day 1, there seemed to be real depth of quality.  As they grew we felt that the males had the edge but we were still showing two champion dogs (The Outlaw and Il Messaggero) and we were in the middle of making up Mario Balotelli.  Keeping another male at the time just would not have been practical.  We therefore gave Sue Drinkwater the choice of males and on a beautiful Summer’s day with these lovely pups romping on the lawn, she chose Kiss Tag whose pet name is Rooney – which is a nod to Sue’s husband Les’ ongoing love affair with Manchester United.

Rooney won very well from the outset and he had a lovely puppy career which culminated in him winning the National Pup of the Year title under Martin Wyles.     Not too long after this he won his first CC with BIS at the British Boxer Club championship show under Lesley Wearing and Paul Russell.  His second (with BIS) then came at the Trent Boxer Club under Maureen Wragg.  Right at the start of the following year he gained his title by going BIS at the South Wales Boxer Club under Marion Seeney.  More CCs then followed.

It was always a pleasure for us to watch Sue and Rooney in the ring. They made a great team and we were very proud of everything they have achieved. Rooney was such a well-made, honest Boxer with an absolutely beautiful head and expression. Who sadly died much too young.
